Can I have one more day of weekend please? Or maybe a day in day in between Saturday and Sunday. I can't believe it is already Sunday and it will be back to reality tomorrow. Well to chase the blues away, let's talk about a visit to a little cafe tucked somewhere in a corner of Bukit Merah called ButterScotch.
Yes yes I know, I did mentioned in the previous post that I am not into the cafe-hopping trend. But really I am not. The idea was from a group of my friends that wanted to meet up and decided to give the place a try yesterday.
The cafe was very small as compared to what I had expected in mind. I was quite worried during the planning and wondered if they accepted reservations but they don't. Considering that it was a Saturday evening, it was almost full house when we arrived at about 5.30pm. Fortunately though, my man and I arrived just after Nurul and her boyfriend and we managed to so-called 'reserve' another 4 seats for the others.
Due to the space constraints, the place looks messy overall. It is not recommended for those who are looking for a quiet romantic spot as the ambience can be noisy because of the chatterings and all. Old school songs from Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls and Mariah Carey are being played. It was something different and I quite liked the idea.
My man and I ordered Iced Nutella Latte for him and Iced Cookies and Cream Latte for myself. It was quite a let down because I was expecting the drink to be flavourful just like it's name. However, both tasted pretty similar with a stronger coffee taste to it and hardly any taste of neither the Nutella nor the cookies and cream.
The menu stated that the Butterscotch soufflé takes about 30-45 minutes of preparation time. Its either that it arrived faster than the timing or we were too caught up in chatting that we didn't realised the time had flew past. Since my man and I already had a heavy lunch at Brinda's before this, we just decided to indulge in this dessert.
It came with chocolate sauce and a scoop of butterscotch ice-cream which really had that intense butterscotch taste of both sweet and salty. The soufflé was served in another bowl and while it was still warm, my man cut open sections of it and poured in the chocolate sauce. It was really nice, sweet, milky, creamy and just melts in your mouth. As this is my first time having soufflé, I have to say that it was sinfully goooooood!
Another dessert which my friend got was called Bomb Alaska. It's a meringue with butterscotch ice-cream filling.
Everybody seems to be raving about truffle fries right now and this is my virgin try. Well, in my opinion I don't see anything so special about it. Maybe there was that "truffle" taste to it?
Another virgin try, was the smoked salmon eggs benedict. See, this just proves that I am not the cafe-hopping sort!
One of their few burgers which the cafe serves, the spicy chilli crab burger. I had a bite of this and it does taste as promising as it looks!
Overall despite the size of the cafe, they do have quite a variety of selection. The presentation of the food was also unique and appetising.
And of course, the girls just cannot leave anywhere without taking photos first. So here is one of me and my man. Oh, by the way all the photos I used in this entry is all credits to Hamid and Roufang. I am too lazy to take photos.
Following that, we headed to Safra Mount Faber and sadly Hani couldn't join us. Nisa, Farhanah and Roufang wanted to play pool while the other pair of lovebirds and us wanted to play bowling so we went separate ways when we were there.
Well the first round of the game was definitely a warm-up for me. It was the second game that I emerged as the winner! It was so unexpected because I hardly bowl and it was only my second time playing it. So after two rounds, we decided to call it a night and my man and I cabbed back home.
Ciao!
